Santa Barbara Festival Ballet Presents Nutcracker At The Arlington

Saturday, December 14, 2019, 02:30pm

Santa Barbara Festival Ballet's Nutcracker at the Arlington will take you on the magical adventure of Clara and her Nutcracker Prince as they journey through the stars to the Kingdom of Sweets! Adapted from the classic tale by E.T.A. Hoffman and set to Tchaikovsky’s iconic score performed by a live Symphony Orchestra, this timeless ballet brings to life Herr Drosselmeyer and his Clockwork Dolls, an explosive battle between the Rat King and the Nutcracker, and a whirlwind of dancing Snowflakes.

As Clara and her Nutcracker reach the Land of Sweets they are greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and are treated to a celebration of leaping Candy Canes, waltzing Flowers and even Mother Ginger and her brood of sprightly Gingersnaps.

Santa Barbara Festival Ballet is celebrating its 45th anniversary of Nutcracker at the Arlington with world class guest artists Misa Kuranaga (Sugar Plum Fairy) and Angelo Greco (Cavalier), both Principal Dancers with San Francisco Ballet. With a full cast of professional guest artists, SBFB company dancers, guests from the UCSB dance department, SBFB Conservatory students and a handful of special community guests, this show is sure to delight audiences of all ages.

Recognized as a Santa Barbara Holiday tradition for decades, Nutcracker at the Arlington is one of the longest running productions performed with a live orchestra on the West Coast. This is Santa Barbara’s Nutcracker.
