Angels Foster Care to host fifth annual

Twilight advance film screening fundraiser

Local Santa Barbarans are expected to line up early in anticipation of seeing actors Robert Pattison and Kristen Stewart star in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, part II,” the final movie in the mega-popular vampire series. The film screens two days in advance of its nationwide release at the Arlington Theatre on Wednesday, November 14 at 7:30p.m., as a benefit for the local non-profit organization Angels Foster Care of Santa Barbara. The story, based on the New York Times best-selling book series by Stephenie Meyer, is set in the Pacific Northwest and follows the intertwined lives of teenager Bella Swan, vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black.

Tickets are $25 general admission and $100 for VIP admission, and are on sale at the Arlington Theatre Ticket Agency, 1317 State Street, Santa Barbara, (805) 963-4408. VIP admission begins at 6:00pm and includes a pre-film dessert and hors d’oeuvres party, early entrance to the film and preferred movie seating. Among the planned entertainment: Twilight fan encounters with celebrities.

Angels Foster Care is a non-profit organization that rescues abused, neglected and abandoned babies and places them in loving Angels foster homes in Santa Barbara County. The agency was established in 2006 to offer excellent foster homes and stabilize babies, meeting the growing demand for licensed foster homes in Santa Barbara County. The agency works with children aged two and under (and their siblings up to age five) who are entering foster care for the first time. In six years, Angels Foster Care has placed 118 babies in local homes.

Numerous studies speak to the importance of infant attachment, which occurs when a child bonds to a consistent set of caregivers during his or her first 24 months of life. Angels foster parents take only one child (or sibling group) at a time, must have a stay-at-home parent and agree to keep the child until reunification with the birth parents or adoption occurs. A twelve-month commitment is usual, which allows the child to receive stable care and prevents movement within the foster care system. Due to critical shortages, there is an urgent need for certified foster homes. Information is available at www.angelssb.com or by calling (805) 884-0012.
