SBIFF Executive Director Roger Durling touched on LIGHTBULB in his opening press conference, affirming how timely the movie is in relation to the hard economic times we in the midst of. LIGHTBULB is directed by Jeff Balsmeyer - whose previous feature film DANNY DECKCHAIR (2004) was warmly received as the closing night film for the Toronto Film Festival - and written and produced by first-timer Mike Cram. This romantic drama/comedy features an excellent cast including Dallas Roberts (I WALK THE LINE, 3:10 TO YUMA), Jeremy Renner, (THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES, THE HURT LOCKER), and Ayelet Zurer (MUNICH, ANGELS & DEMONS). Ayelet Zurer (Gina Reeder) Born in Tel Aviv, Israel. One of that country’s most acclaimed actresses. Credits include: “Munich”, “Fugitive Pieces”, and the female lead in “Angels & Demons”. Jeff Balsmeyer (Director) Native of Oceanside, now living in Sydney, Australia. Began his career as a storyboard artist for such acclaimed directors as Robert Redford, Spike Lee, and Woody Allen. His short film, “The Room”, won the SACD Award at Cannes. His first feature, “Danny Deckchair”, was the closing night film at the Toronto Film Festival and opened to rave reviews.
